Snorfcon programme

The Snorfcon programme grid is now up. It bears some resemblance to the text below. Some things we were able to do, some we weren't - all our ideas were good, so we're keeping them online.

Friday - the first day

We expect people to arrive at different times during the afternoon and evening, so there won't be any scheduled programme for the Friday evening, but rather an icebreaking get-to-know-each-other event.

Saturday - the main day

This is the main day. We'll need programme items which introduces the various styles of conrunning and typical types of fanac of each country - on the other hand, "Fandom in Country X" is among the more boring type of programme items in existence. This is also not about anyone, off or on the committee, "teaching" a set of attendees how to run conventions or do other fanac. Quite the opposite, the committee is running this con to have all attendees come teach us how to run conventions and to fanac.

There'll be panels and presentation, the goal of which are to identify similarities and differences between the fannish cultures of each Nordic country. Essential questions we'll have to try to answer are:

Socializing in the evening after dinner - obviously. Depending on the membership number, a dinner for all members may or may not be organized.

Sunday - the meta-day

This day is dedicated to the Snorfcon itself. Is it wortwhile? Where do we want it to go? Conrunning only, or all fanac? Only SF fandom, or all fields of fandom? Annual event? Bi-annual event? Public funding? Next committee?

Other types of programming may be added to the Sunday, depending on when we close. But we'll not be closing very late, probably around 16:00. People will be wanting to catch flights home, people will be wanting to do tourism, people will be wanting a dead dog party...

What isn't here

We're not at this point going in practicaly issues on con-running or other fanac. This is not a matter of principle, these are definitely issues that can and should be dealt with at future Snorfcons. But they are not issues for the first time, when we really need to work on the format of the con itself.

We're also not discussing specific projects for nordic fans to tackle together. Again, this is something for the future, and part of the idea with this first con is to suggest and brainstorm around such projects without preconceptions of what they should be.
